Ethnomusicology
Lecture: Ethnomusicologist Marc Perlman (Brown University)
Marc Perlman, ethnomusicologist, received his Ph.D. from Wesleyan University. Before joining Brown University, he spent a year as a Fellow of the Society for the Humanities at Cornell University. He has also taught at Tufts University, and in Indonesia, where he was founding editor of the Journal of the Indonesian Musicological Society.
Music Graduate Students Garner Honors and Awards
Each spring a variety of annual prizes and fellowships are awarded from within the University of Pittsburgh and beyond. It will come as no surprise that many music department graduate students were recognized for their creative and intellectual contributions.
Helbig and Heller Named ACLS Fellows
Faculty members Adriana Helbig (Ethnomusicology) and Michael Heller (Jazz Studies) are among 78 recipients selected nationally as 2018 American Council of Learned Society Fellows. Peer reviewers selected the fellows from a pool of nearly 1,150 applicants. Awards range from $40,000 to $70,000, depending on the scholar’s career stage, and support scholars for six to twelve months of full-time research and writing.
