The Carpathian Music Ensemble will perform original arrangements of Gypsy, Klezmer, Armenian, Moldavian, Ukranian, and Macedonian music.

Auditions will be held for Department of Music student ensembles beginning Monday, August 29. Our choirs and instrumental ensembles are open to students throughout the University and you are encourgaged to apply regardless of your major. Below, please find specific audition requirements for each of our groups.
The Gospel Choir will have an open rehearsal on Thursday, September 1 in 123 Music Building from 6–7:40 p.m. No prepared music needed. Come and explore singing gospel music!
Esma Redžepova, "Queen of the Gypsies" has been a global star of Romani music for more than 50 years. On April 22, she brings her world-renowned artistry to the University of Pittsburgh as part of the Year of the Humanities Celebration.

Join the Pitt African Music and Dance Ensemble, University Gamelan, and Carpathian Music Ensemble for a celebration of World Music at Pitt with this free concert at the WPU.
The Carpathian Music Ensemble performs Gypsy, Klezmer, Armenian, Moldavian, Ukranian, and Macedonian music. Members of the ensemble transcribe folk music for the instruments and voices present in the ensemble, leading to a unique style of folk-funk-fusion.

The Carpathian Music Ensemble will continue its energetic focus on music from the Carpathian region and the Balkans. Special emphasis will be placed on Romani music in anticipation of this year’s study abroad course "Romani Music, Culture, and Human Rights" taking place in the Czech Republic and Hungary May 24-June 15. Many members of the ensemble will participate in that course along with students from across the University.
Pitt’s Gamelan, Carpathian Music Ensemble, and African Music and Dance Ensemble present an afternoon of music, dancing, and food. With special guest Sounds of Steel, a steel drum band from Urban Pathaways Charter School.
The Department of Music, the Study Abroad Office, and the Center for Russian and East European Music are accepting applications for Pitt's newest study abroad program! Romani Music, Culture and Human Rights Program (Czech Republic and Hungary) takes place for May 24–June 15 and applications must be submitted by February 15.
