Monday mornings won’t be the same at the Music Building as long-time guitar instructor Joe Negri retires from teaching. For 49 years, Negri came to Pitt each Monday morning of the fall and spring semester to teach his students. The man who became beloved worldwide as Handyman Negri on Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood is beloved by his many students for his exquisite musicianship, the clarity of his teaching, and continued support over the course of their careers. During a celebration of Joe’s time at Pitt with faculty, students, and staff, JoAnne Klimovich Harrop of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review interviewed him about his experiences as a performer and teacher. You can read the in-depth article and see the video interview here.
Words cannot express how much we will miss Joe's presence here, but we wish him a happy and relaxing retirement!
