Carpathian Ensemble

The department's newest musical endeavor, the Carpathian Music Ensemble, was founded in fall 2008 and is directed by Assistant Professor of Ethnomusicology Adriana Helbig.

The ensemble performs Gypsy, Klezmer, Armenian, Moldavian, Ukranian, and Macedonian music. Along with their performances for Music at Pitt, the ensemble performs for enthusiastic crowds at local concert venues around Pittsburgh.

Special Event: Sunday, November 6, 2011

The Carpathian Music Ensemble will perform as part of a series of Fabergé education programs presented by the Frick Art Museum auditorium (Point Breeze) on Sunday, November 6 at 2:30 p.m. The performance is part of the Fabergé exhibit at the Frick that runs until January 15. The ensemble will present a unique afternoon of music and performance inspired by the homeland of Fabergé.

Tickets are $8 for members and students; $10 for non-members and guests; Advance registration and pre-payment strongly suggested.
