Sam is a PhD student in Jazz Studies. He holds a BM and MM in Jazz Performance from the Manhattan School of Music. He is currently interested in American folk piano traditions of the early 20th century, focusing primarily on the blues. He has released three albums of original music and performs with several renowned jazz groups.
