Profile

Collaboration and community have been at the forefront of my career. I've been in numerous collaborative ensembles in Chicago, New York and Philadelphia. These include the Chicago Underground collective, with Jeff Parker and Rob Mazurek, Grass Roots with Sean Conly, Alex Harding, and Darius Jones, Sticks and Stones with Josh Abrams and Matana Roberts, Br-an-ch with Angelica Sanchez and Brandon Ross and Side A with Ken vandermark and Harvard Wiik. I’ve Collaborated with Francis Wong and Tatsu Aoki with the organization Asian Improv Arts, with Marshall Allen’s Ghost Horizon’s Ensemble and with Ernest Dawkins and the AACM. I firmly believe that collaboration is the key to success, not only in terms of career but in terms of artistic accomplishment. As a leader, I have recorded and performed with the quintet Active Ingredients, The Chad Taylor Trio, Circle Down and the Chad Taylor Quintet. I have recorded with the percussion ensemble Onilu with Joe Chambers and Kevin Diehl and I’m developing new music for a percussion ensemble that will make its debut in 2025.
