I am a graduate student in musicology, holding a bachelor's degree from Ewha Womans University, South Korea. My research focuses on popular music in Korea and Japan during the early 20th century, exploring how artists navigated colonialism through various strategies. I employ historiographical and archival research alongside sound studies to uncover the complex tactics artists used in negotiating colonial power. My academic interests include postcolonial studies, popular music, and the political dynamics within inter-Asian contexts during the 20th century.
