Dead Elf Music Award Winners Announced
Emmanuel (Manny) Berrido, a PhD candidate in composition and theory, has received recognition for ASTERISM III, a new piece for strings. ASTERISM III was the winning submission for this year's Dead Elf Music Award for an outstanding composition by a University of Pittsburgh graduate student.
Professor Amy Williams Wins Henri Lazarof International Commission Prize
Amy Williams, Professor of Composition, has been awarded the fifth annual Henri Lazarof International Commission Prize from Brandeis University. Selected from an anonymous pool of over 300 composers, Dr. Williams will be writing a new string trio. Her work will be premiered at Brandeis University in May 2025, alongside Lazarof’s work of the same instrumentation.

Three Music Graduate Students Among the Nine 2024 Humanities Engage Fellows
Celebrating Our 2024 BA Graduates
The University of Pittsburgh Music Department bids farewell to three outstanding musicians: Ella Battistelli, Ashwin Dukkipati, and Jacob Fisher. Amid preparing for finals and completing their senior capstone projects, they shared their plans after graduation. All Music Majors are required to complete a senior capstone project to solidify the academic knowledge and educational experience acquired while at the University of Pittsburgh.
